Do I Need to Invite Out-of-Town Guests to my Rehearsal Dinner?

ASK TERRICA

Q: Are we supposed to invite out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner?

A: Usually the rehearsal dinner is an intimate gathering for close family and those involved in the wedding.  Couples and hosts are not required to invite out-of-town guests to the rehearsal dinner, and can instead make guests feel welcome by providing information on local attractions and restaurants.  However, if the hosts are willing and able, opening up the rehearsal dinner to out-of-towners is a gracious gesture.

Another alternative is to have a close friend or family member host a cocktail party or dinner for them.  There is one exception and that is destination weddings.  They are often more intimate anyway and there is so much expense involved so including all guests at the rehearsal dinner is a wonderful way to make the most of everyone’s time at your special location.

Send me all your wedding questions to info@southernproductions.net and I will answer them in my new series called “Ask Terrica.”
