If I am hired as a full service wedding planner one of the first things to accomplish is helping the couple select a venue. I always schedule venue site visits with couples to make sure they are happy with the space before we book. Once the venue is booked I know I will be doing another site visit when it’s time to design the floor plan in the planning process. I usually attend this second site visit without the couple unless they want a specific floor plan. The third venue site visit is done with the florist (if I am not the florist too) and the couple. At this site visit we are going over the floor plan and where all of the decor and flowers will go. The rental company will usually attend this walk through as well.
Now, if I am hired for Wedding Management I only do one venue site visit. About one month before the wedding I will meet with the couple, the florist and other necessary vendors, at the venue. We will go over the floor plan and where all of the flowers and decor pieces will be. It’s very important that I know everything the couple has planned to ensure everything is set up correctly on the wedding day.
If the ceremony will be in another location I will meet with the couple at their ceremony location along with my wedding director, so we can go over the order of ceremony, where everyone will stand at on the altar, locate the holding rooms, and bride and groom dressing rooms. We want to make sure we have every little detail planned before rehearsal day.
