For the first seven years of my business I offered three different planning packages as well as floral design.  I started tracking the number of packages couples booked me for every year and realized that most couples were either choosing us for Full Service Wedding Planning or Wedding Day Management.  The package that I removed from my services was called Wedding Planning Guidance + Wedding Day Management.  I only had a couple of bride’s choose this package every year, so I decided it would be best to remove it all together.  Couples either wanted us for Full Service Wedding Planning (from beginning to end) or just for the month leading up to the wedding and the day of the wedding; Wedding Day Management.  

The package I removed included everything in the Wedding Day Management package plus monthly checklists, budget creation and a few hours of planning that could be used however they wished.  Including a limited amount of planning hours got really confusing and to be honest I never kept up with the number of hours I was planning for.  This led to working way over the allotted number of hours included, which meant I was not getting paid for my time.  If I had been keeping up with the time I would have found that a lot of these clients really needed us for Full Service Wedding Planning after all since they needed more hand holding than they realized initially.  I also felt like Full Service Wedding Planning and Wedding Planning Guidance + Wedding Day Management overlapped so much so I have never regretted removing this package all together.  

If you are a wedding planner just getting started you need to sit down and really think about the services you want to offer.  You can be a planner that offers just Wedding Day Management or just Full Service Planning.  Or, you can offer as many different planning packages as you desire.  You may want to test out your packages for a year or two to see which ones your couples are booking you for.  At the end of each year evaluate how many times couples booked your different packages to see which ones are working and which ones are not.  You can make changes to them any time you wish!
